China tops world in smart city construction

According to the recently published report, “Super Smart City – Happier Society with Higher Quality” by multinational professional services provider Deloitte, China is currently building about half of all the smart cities in the world.

In the country, the government has been largely promoting urbanization strategy for years, and has made significant investment in building smart cities over the past decade. In the report, systematic analysis is conducted on 25 key Chinese cities to identify the development status of smart cities and determine the gap between these cities and super smart cities. While there is still much room for improvement, construction of smart city infrastructure has been developing very fast in most of the Chinese cities in the analysis.

The report also concludes that more opportunities for future development can be derived from urbanization in China than in the US.
