NTNU AND TRONDHEIM MUNICIPALITY MEETING WITH THE EUCCC IN BEIJING

On the 25th of October 2017 the NTNU- and Trondheim Municipality-delegation also visited the EU Chamber of Commerce in China (EUCCC) in Beijing.

EUCCC Vice President Massimo Bagnasco started the meeting with a roundtable introduction and a brief introduction on the Chamber, before he provided insights on the foreign investment environment in China, from the perspective of opportunities and challenges for the European businesses. Subsequently Chamber Business Manager Cecilia Rovelli and Working Group Coordinator Kevin Gao made presentations on various Working Groups within the EUCCC, and illustrated recent developments and key recommendations.

Morten Wolden, CEO of Trondheim Municipality, presented the development of smart cities and provided several cases in Trondheim, then gave the floor to Prof. Annemie Wyckmans, who made a presentation on the city-university cooperation model in Norway and provided updates on the Urban-EU-China Innovation Platform Project. She also invited the EUCCC to participate in the Nordic Edge Expo on Smart Cities, which will take place in the Beijing-area in the autumn of 2018.

A discussion was initiated afterwards, with questions regarding data protection and sharing economy raised by the Chamber’s General Manager of Beijing Chapter Carl Hayward. The meeting concluded with VP Massimo Bagnasco presenting the European Chamber Position Paper 2017/2018 to Trondheim CEO Morten Wolden.
