The International Society of City and Regional Planners (ISOCARP) is a global association of experienced professional city and regional planners. ISOCARP was founded in 1965 in a bid to bring together recognised and highly-qualified planners in an international network.
The network brings together individual and institutional members from more than 85 countries worldwide. We are planners and other stakeholders involved in the development and maintenance of the built environment. As a non-governmental organisation ISOCARP is recognized by the United Nations (UN), the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UNHCS/UN-HABITAT), and the Council of Europe. The Society also has a formal consultative status with the United Nations Education, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO).

Although ISOCARP members work in many different fields we all share a common interest in the spatial and environmental dimensions of urbanisation, advising key decision-makers, proposing and supporting projects for intervention in a spatial context through general or specific actions.

The objectives of ISOCARP are to improve cities and territories through planning practice, training, education and research. ISOCARP promotes the planning profession in all its aspects. ISOCARP keeps its focus on being a politically and commercially independent network of professional planners. We have grown into a world-wide organisation but also kept a strong European emphasis.

The Society aims at becoming a more global organisation and is particularly looking for a stronger base in Asia, Latin America and Africa. However, it is also important to strengthen the traditional European base. The main tools of ISOCARP are the yearly congresses, symposia, workshops and publications.

Emporium concept

Wansdronk develops a solar energy, zero-emission and material saving building concept Emporium. A warm water storage container and heat collectors provide the space heating and hot water supply, and a cold water storage container and cool collectors deliver the space cooling and cooling source for the refrigerator. The water circulates without pumps; instead it uses thermosiphon, and therefore requires no high-grade energy such as electricity or fuel.

Approved by the State Council, China Urban-townization Promotion Council (CUPC), which is originally initiated the National Development and Reform Commission, Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development, Ministry of Agriculture, Ministry of Science and Technology, Ministry of Environmental Protection, the State Forestry Administration, the State Council Development Research Center, the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, the National Administrative College and other relevant departments, is a registered national social group at the Ministry of Civil Affairs of the People's Repulic of China. Specialized in urbanization and townization research, CUPC is a newly-born think tank aiming at promoting the development of the New-type Urbanization in China.

Fundamental Purposes：
With the guidance of the theoretical system of socialism with Chinese characteristics, we have carried out extensive research on the urbanization of China in an all-round way, and actively promoted the construction of the New-type Urbanization in China. Our fundamental purposes are to speed up the integration of urban and rural areas, to explore the development route for the New-type Urbanization with Chinese characteristics, and ultimately, to contribute the great work of building a moderately prosperous society in all respects, the great rejuvenation of Chinese nation and the realization of Chinese Dream.

Primary Roles：
Carry out multi-type, multi-level, diversified urbanization research that is closely related to the party and the country's central work and strategic deployment. Provide urbanization decision-making advisory services in the field of urbanization to all levels of government departments and social groups.
Study the theory and methods of the new urbanization in China, and advance the establishmen of a research system of the theory of the New-type Urbanization with Chinese characteristics.
Conduct in-depth case study in the development of China's urbanization combining the experiences of China's reform and opening up practice. Summary and promote the important experience and results of China's urbanization timely.
Systematically collect, organize and study the information of urbanization in China, establish a database of urbanization in China, and provide our city's urbanization information service in time for all sectors of society;
Organize domestic and foreign training sessions and seminars for our country to provide personnel training services in the field of the New-type Urbanization.
Edit and publish training materials, academic works, scientific research, magazine newspapers of urbanization theory and practice and so on, according to the provisions of the organization;
Organize the exhibition of urbanization, experience exchange, project promotion and other activities, and vigorously promote the New-type Urbanization along with China's advanced experience and typical cases;
Organize the international exchange activities of urbanization to introduce the achievements of urbanization in China, and to expand the international influence of urbanization in China;
Undertake other tasks entrusted by the relevant government departments.
